Cycle tour in Zeeland

The province of Zeeland is located in the southwest of the Netherlands on the Belgian border and consists of a large number of islands and peninsulas on the North Sea coast. It is considered the sunniest corner of the Netherlands and offers the most beautiful sandy beaches, charming little towns and the best cycle paths. Day 1 Arrival in Burgh-Haamstede
Burgh-Haamstede ist situated between two nature reserves. Visit the cozy town center or let yourself be captured by the wind, sea and sand on a walk along the beach. You can often even see seals lying on the sandbank in the distance.

Day 2 Tag Burgh-Haamstede - Brielle, approx. 50 km/31 mi
On your way to the old fortress town of Brielle, you’ll first encounter the most beautiful sandy beaches in the Netherlands and then the impressive Delta Works, the protective barriers against the sea and storm surges.

Day 3 Brielle - Willemstad, approx. 50 km/31 mi
Your tour begins at the Brielser Meer, a special water and bird paradise. Soon you will reach the river Het Spui, whose flow direction was reversed with the construction of the Delta Works. A star-shaped ring of fortifications and canals surrounds your destination for the day: the tranquil city of Willemstad.

Day 4 Willemstad - Zierkzee/Noordgouwe, 50 km/31 mi
Today's stage is very rural and Zierikzee is a very impressive medieval town. Try a bolus, a yeast pastry that Spanish Jews brought to the country.

Day 5 Zierkzee/Noordgouwe - Burgh-Haamstede,
approx. 48 km/30 mi
Finally, you will cycle over the longest Dutch bridge to the smallest island in Zeeland. Hilly dune landscapes with sand drifts, dune meadows and wide plains accompany you on the way back to Burgh-Haamstede.

Day 6 Departure or extension
